I caught up with Amy & Paul recently to talk to them about their amazing winter wedding at the Carriage Hall Plumtree. Amy and her bridal party got ready there at the stunning Lace Market Hotel in the centre of Nottingham, like the rest of the day, it was such a calm and relaxed morning!
Amy and Paul's highlight reel and their amazing suppliers.
Q: Tell me about your wedding date, is there a special reason why you picked the 8th December?
"We love Autumn/Early Winter and the festivities that go with it. As a couple, we enjoy the Christmas music, mulled wine and mince pies that December brings. We wanted a date that was festive but not too close to Christmas. The 8th was perfect. Also, it just worked with our venue. Once we had chosen our venue as The Carriage Hall, we knew it had to be winter to reflect the cosy, festive feel of the Hall."
Q: And what about the amazing venue? What made you choose the Carriage Hall?
"We wanted somewhere that was intimate, relaxed and provided great food. We had eaten at Perkins before and loved the food, so we knew we would be in good hands. The Carriage Hall felt so cosy and festive for our winter wedding. It was just right for a small wedding with a relaxed feeling and the decor worked so well with our navy and copper theme. The mezzanine sold it for us! We also loved the fact that we could spend our first night there as Mr and Mrs in the shepherd hut."
Q: Tell me a bit about the outfits and details of your day and the thoughts behind why you chose them?
"My wedding dress was from Beautiful Brides in Nottingham. I went to 12 bridal places before finally finding my perfect Pronovias dress in the 13th store on Friday 13th - not unlucky for me! The romantic lace and champagne colour worked so well for my winter fairytale theme. My shoes were the perfect touch of gold sparkle and lace with personalised clips saying ‘happy’ ‘ever after’
"The groom wore a tweed suit from Ted Baker being a nod to our son Teddy. With accessories from Paul Smith being a nod to rainbows for our little girl Iris."
"My bouquet from Elizabeth McKenna had a winter theme with berries and foliage and a single Iris for my little girl. The button holes were winter foliage with Paul having a small red rose to represent Lancashire."
"Our overall theme was a relaxed winter fairytale. Harpist, Lisa Wright, played beautiful music including ‘FairyTale of New York’ as we walked back down the aisle. It's a special festive song for us."
"We had our friends play vinyl records and DJ for us from Vinyl Revival, a night where Paul and I would drink and dance and discuss music. A different type of first dance to ‘You’re So Vain’ simply because it was our song when we first met."
"Little touches that made the day special were; the snow confetti that the guests threw, macaroons as a touch of Paris where we spent our first Valentine's Day, a selfie pod to capture moments of our guests enjoying themselves. Personalised chocolates from Paul’s sister’s chocolate shop, handmade Christmas decorations for favours, handmade pine cones for place settings and personalised glow sticks for the dance floor!"
"The sparkler send off and a fireworks display from Galaxy Fireworks was incredible and a great way to kick off the reception."
Q: Tell me something about your wedding that you didn't expect?
"Snow! Well fake snow from a snow machine at The Lace Market Hotel which provided a great photo opportunity and giggle with my Dad!
How amazing the venue would look - the lanterns, the petals, the chairs, the foliage all provided by Nuptia were just perfect. The extra touches that Mel from Carriage Hall created with candles and Christmas decorations blew us away."
"Just how relaxed the day would be. It went by so quickly but with having Dan as the photographer he made sure me and Paul had some time alone as a couple to chat and laugh some more!"
Q: Lastly, but probably the most important, I'd love to know about your 5 favourite images and why you love them.
"Five?! That’s just too hard to choose as we had so many fantastic photos.
If we had to choose we would say:"
"At the aisle when we’ve just got married and we looked at each other - the look on our face says it all, we did it!!"
"The four of us - Mr and Mrs with our two children and the cheeky smile on our little boys face."
"Kissing and laughing outside near the shepherd hut. We had time just the two of us to enjoy the day and that was caught perfectly on camera."
Thanks to Amy & Paul for inviting us to their amazing day at The Carriage Hall. It's been great re-living the day xx
